We are dedicated to our clients … and the pets they love !

College Animal Hospital is now under new ownership and is proudly owned by 2 local veterinarians. We are so happy to update all of our diagnostic equipment and provide state-of-the-art care to our San Diego community. Our goal is to provide complete, extraordinary veterinary service at affordable and fair prices.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we are under construction updating (and beautifying!) our hospital.  Come meet our amazing team!

Dr. Vanessa Hoard

We are happy to have Dr. Vanessa Hoard on our team! Dr. Hoard grew up in Miami, Fl and received her bachelors of science in biology from George Washington University. She graduated from Western University of Health Sciences for Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, CA in 2009 and completed a small animal internship at Animal Surgical and Emergency Center in Santa Monica in 2010. Dr. Hoard then went to work with The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito where she helped save hundreds of hurt and malnourished seals and sea lions. She spent the last seven years working at a zoo/aquarium in the San Fransisco area. Dr. Hoard moved to San Diego for a change of pace and to continue her love of working with dogs and cats.

Dr. Erin Rose

Dr. Rose grew up in Madison, WI and attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate education. She attended St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada in the West Indies, and Oregon State for her clinical year. After vet school, she volunteered her services in Raratonga, an island in the south pacific. She then moved back to Madison, where she worked in general practice and emergency medicine. She has special  interests in surgery, dentistry, education and preventative care. She lives with her little son, and her fur child, a chihuahua named Lola. Her hobbies include outdoor oceanfront activities, finding good food, camping and world travel.

Dr. Rose has a lifelong commitment to animal care and is a very experienced and compassionate veterinarian who understands the human-animal bond. She always strives to provide her best to each and every patient and client.

Dr. Selena Savides

Dr. Selena Savides is a San Diego Native! She went to Missouri University for her veterinary schooling. Since then has been practicing veterinary medicine in East County for the last 10 years at an emergency and specialty animal hospital. She has special interests in emergency medicine and surgery.

When she is not saving dogs and cats – she is playing with her many beloved pigeons, and her amazing little dogs Fraggle and Lily.

Danielle – Practice Manager

Danielle is the Hospital Practice Manager – we are lucky to have her! She is originally from Las Vegas. She started her assistant training over ten years ago and continues to love the profession. Danielle has been working for College Animal Hospital for over 7 years. She has two children and 2 adorable rescues – a 5 year old pit bull named ‘Mate’ and new addition 3 legged Roonie. Danielle enjoys spending time at the beach and downtown with her family. 

Megan – RVT

Megan is a San Diego native. She has always aspired to work with animals. Megan found her calling in the veterinary field which lead her to Pima Medical Institute. She graduated in May 2017 from the veterinary technician program.

Megan rescued a dog, Liza,  who was down in the back – and now she walks again !  She gives the rest of her love to  the pets she works with on a daily basis at College Animal Hospital. We are so glad to have Megan’s compassion on our team.

Kassidy – Veterinary Assistant

Meet Kassidy! Kassidy grew up in the Midwest and has been living in San Diego for seven years. She earned  her Veterinary Assistant Certification several years ago and,  since then, has been an important member of the the team at College Animal Hospital. She lives on a farm in Ramona and loves commuting to work because she loves helping the animals. She has 2 dogs: Grace the pit bull/ mastiff mix and Loki the Cane Corso – both sweet as ever. When Kassidy is not at work, she loves to read to expand knowledge on new things and spending time outside with her family and dogs. 

Mallory – Veterinary Assistant

Mallory is a certified veterinary assistant from PIMA medical institute. She is currently working towards her RVT license and is attending PIMA Medical Institute as a vet tech student. She will be finishing  the program this summer!! Originally from New York, Mallory now resides In California with her husband. She grew up with many different animals from dogs and cats to horses and sheep. She grew up working on a family friend’s farm where her love for animals expanded from there. She always knew she wanted to pursue a career helping animals. When Mallory isn’t caring for animals – she spends time with her rescue pup named Stella – 50lbs full of pure happiness and energy.

Leslie – Veterinary Assistant

Meet Leslie! She is originally from Seattle Washington but has been living in San Diego for 4 years. She went to Veterinary Assistant school in 2014 and graduated in 2015 from West Tech College in Riverside County. She has always had a special passion for helping animals and has always wanted that to be a part of her life. Leslie says she loves how this field is full of positivity and loves being surrounded by amazing little creatures and animal lovers! She has 4 pets of her own Shiloh the cat, Aaron the bunny, and  2 dogs George and Randy. In her free time she enjoys hikes, the beach, snacks and family time!

Brian – Veterinary Assistant

Brian is a San Diego native who brings 30 years of experience as a veterinary assistant to our practice.  His main focus has been small animals, avian and exotics. Brian honed his tech skills throughout San Diego working in emergency and specialty, internal medicine, surgery, critical care, and wellness.  Starting In the mid 80s Brian began his animal career as a trainer and decoy for working dogs at training facilities across Southern California.   He’s established himself at our hospital only a few blocks away from his home in the El Cerrito neighborhood.  Brian’s lifelong dedication to excellence in animal care and training has been a welcome addition to our team at College Animal Hospital.
